Nestled in the lobby of the Hoxton Hotel on Great Eastern Street is this little beauty - Hoxton Grill's classic American diner-style decor and menu is offset by its elegance. It strikes an original balance between trendy and relaxed, so that whilst its 80s style red leather seating and neon signs are fun, the food is the main event. The booths along the exposed brick wall are nicely private, especially with the dim mood lighting that tunes out people around you.
The menu offers up a range of Southern diner-inspired meals, and is just extensive enough to ensure that each has been honed to perfection. We went for the pulled pork burger with appleslaw and pork scratchings (as pictured), and the bacon and blue cheese burger with fries. The pulled pork was incredible - its tender succulence soaking up sweet, tangy BBQ sauce and complimented by the sharp appleslaw. The bacon and blue cheese was again delicious, exceeded only by the fries which were at that ever-elusive level of perfect crispiness. The brioche buns were a great finishing touch to our meaty feast. If you're ever wandering around East London, definitely pay this bad boy a visit.
